A 10-Point Guide To Open NPS Account Online

To Open NPS Account : National Pension Scheme, NPS has gained a lot of popularity in the last few years. Various tax benefits, better return profile, and choice of funds are just some of the facilities that have provided an edge to the NPS as compared to the other tax saving instruments.
National Pension System Trust also introduced an online facility to open NPS Account online to make the procedure more convenient for their customers. The facility is called eNPS which allows the opening of individual pension accounts under NPS and also making the primary and succeeding contribution to Tier I and Tier II accounts.
Here are the following things you require to open eNPS account:
- A mobile number
- An email id
- An active bank account with internet banking facility
- Aadhaar number linked with a mobile number
- Scanned photograph
- Canceled cheque and signature
- Minimum of Rs. 500 in a bank account or credit card
Steps to open the NPS account online:
Step 1: Open the NPS website and click on “registration” on the right-hand side of the homepage.
Step 2: The Online Subscriber Registration page will open. Select new registration and choose the appropriate category for you. Enter the aadhaar number. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter OTP and click on continue.
Step 3: An acknowledgment number will be generated once you click on continue. It will have your name and time stamp along with the number. Select “OK”.
Step 4: You will then be prompted to enter your personal details. Make sure you have verified all the details before moving further. Once done, click on “Save and Proceed”.
Step 5: Then you will be asked to enter the bank account details. Once done, click on “Save and Proceed”.
Step 6: You will be then asked to decide the portfolio allocation among four available funds subject to a maximum exposure of 50 percent to equity funds. Once you enter the allocation details, nominee details need to be updated.
Step 7: After entering all the details, you will require uploading a canceled cheque of your account along with your photograph and your specimen signature.
Step 8: Once you’re done with filling the data and uploading the docs, make your first contribution towards NPS to subject to a minimum investment of Rs. 500. You can make this payment either by net banking or credit card but some additional charges will be applied.
Step 9: Once your payment is successful, your permanent retirement account number and payment receipt will be generated.
Step 10: Finally click on the “Download Registration Form” Submit the OTP sent by UIDAI to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar. This completes your account opening process.
